It started like any other Wednesday and ended at two in the morning, everyone accusing each other at the kitchen table. The culprit is INSOMNIA, the detective game with artificial intelligence that we installed straight from Google Play "just to test it out". We didn't test it. We played all night long.

The Master who improvises with you

The first thing that impresses you is the Master — the AI that narrates the case. He doesn't read from a fixed script: he reacts to what you say, remembers your contradictions, and delivers the tension in just the right measure. When I accused the wrong character with too much confidence, the game let me sink on my own, in silence, the way a good thriller script does.

Three roles, one suspicion

The genius is in the role structure. There's the Master, there's a declared AI that plays openly as an NPC, and there exists — somewhere at the table — a disguised AI that nobody knows who it is. From the moment you find out about it, you look at everyone differently. Every pause becomes suspicious.

Why I came back the next night

If you're into mystery, bluffing, and that good feeling of "I don't trust anyone here", INSOMNIA deserves a night of your time. Download it on the Google Play page and brew some coffee — you're going to need it.
